Dieting actually means eating only healthy food to lose weight while keeping your body strong and nourished. Overweight people need to cut down on excessive food intake and transition to food that is healthy and contains all the necessary components essential for a body.
Though there are a number of ways to lose weight, the best one is to gradually cut down on the amount of food you intake. Diet is only one way to lose weight. You will always find a need to eat properly at times. Let me share what actually worked for me on my journey from 110 kg to 80 kg.
Some Healthy Ways to Diet and Lose Weight
The first thing to remain fit and healthy is to keep a proper diet and take nutritious food. Following are some tips to help you have a proper diet based on my personal experience.
Reduce Excessive Fat You Consume
Fat is the biggest enemy for your body when consumed in excess. Cut back on your consumption of fatty foods like fatty meat and butter, and incorporate more dietary fiber and vegetables into your meals. But please, do keep in mind that completely eliminating fat from your diet is not a good thing because a little fat is necessary for your body. Fat substitutes like low-fat butter and cream, and lean meats like chicken breast, can be used. Your body needs healthy fats to function!
Increase Your Fiber Intake
Fiber is very important for a body. It helps with digestion and helps fight those hunger pangs that can derail your best intentions. A normal person should take 25 to 35 grams of fiber every day. You can find fiber in whole grain bread, lentils, cereals, fruits, beans, and vegetables. When I increased my fiber intake, I noticed I felt fuller longer and had more energy throughout the day.

Regular Physical Exercise
Exercise is probably the most effective way to lose weight. Make a habit of exercising a little every day and keep increasing the time period gradually. I started with just 15 minute walks! Working out may seem boring, so start with activities you actually enjoy like swimming, dancing, or walking with a friend. Exercise not only helps in losing weight but makes our metabolism more efficient, which helps burn calories faster even when you’re resting.
Cut Back on After Dinner Snacks
Some people have a habit of eating before sleeping, which is not healthy at all. I used to be one of them! This habit can be broken by sleeping earlier, taking a short walk before bed, or reading a book. These activities help with digestion so food won’t remain in your system all night turning into fat.
Avoid Drinking Sweet Beverages
Colas and sodas are rich in sugar, so avoid them. To quench your thirst, drink water. It has zero calories and has other benefits too. Take fresh fruit instead of drinking the juice of that same fruit – you’ll get more fiber and feel fuller. This simple swap made a huge difference for me!
Eat Slowly
Eating your meals slowly is also a way of consuming less fat because when you eat slowly, you eat less. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to realize your stomach is full. Moreover, eating slowly will help you feel satisfied and fuller, and you will actually find the food tastier. I had to teach myself this habit, but it changed everything.
